Arkansas Governor Mike Bebee Declares September Arkansas Rice Month

Share:LITTLE ROCK, AR — Gov. Mike Beebe on Wednesday proclaimed September as Arkansas Rice Month. During the proclamation signing, Gov. Beebe cited the significant contributions of the rice industry to the state. The annual Arkansas rice crop generates more than $1 billion in economic activity and accounts for thousands of jobs.
“We thank Gov. Beebe for recognizing the rice industry and designating September as Rice Month in our state,” said Arkansas Rice Council Vice President Steve Orlicek, a rice farmer from Stuttgart. Also on hand for the ceremony were state Sen. Eddie Joe Williams (R-Cabot), Rep. Homer Lenderman (D-Brookland), Miss Arkansas Rice Brittney Johnson, and rice industry representatives.
